Don’t believe that 98 on Thursday. It was 101.

I certainly don’t miss working outside in those temps. Summer frac was hot.

Take that and add in humidity and you have Houston!

My AC went out Tuesday night. I got it fixed Wednesday night. Any guesses on how hot my house got? Our highs have been 110+ the last month, so it only cools off to about 90 at night.

We lived in Houston for three years, and while I like the city (generally), I don’t miss the humidity.

When we lived in Houston, our AC went out on a Friday and we couldn’t get it fixed until Monday.

That would have been my situation, but thankfully I learned how to fix my own AC. I t was just the compressor fan motor. Picked one up in the morning and swapped it after work.

As I’ve mentioned before I grew up in Round Rock, and I miss the lack of humidity. Not as much as I miss Round Rock donuts though. Got my fix today as my wife brought back 4 dozen after overly cautiously evacuating from Houston to RR the past couple of days.

Overcautious? Perhaps, but better safe than sorry. I fear that the NWS used all sorts of scary words to get people to pay attention to the evacuation orders, but they’ll be see to have cried Chicken Little and nobody will pay attention next time.

I agree, over cautious is in hindsight. And I got RR donuts, so overall a win.

Holy Moses, it’s been brutal here in Chicago lately, but merely lower 90s. At least we get a nice break after tonight’s rains.
I just tuned the organ at Rockefeller Chapel, University of Chicago, that was a pretty sweaty job!

But how many folks in Chicago don’t have AC? Last time I lived there (1976) our apartment didn’t have AC.

Probably not as many as back then but still plenty. Not our new shop either.
My wife hates it whenever it gets above about 69° so when I got new AC in the house a couple years ago, I said MAKE SURE WE CAN RUN IT MEAT LOCKER COLD when it’s 90s.
